Just a Few Thoughts

Knowing our agenda driven American media, I am not surprised at the media’s reaction to the shooting of a young Australian man. Of course, it is those evil guns again! We need more gun control!!! The media totally ignores the facts that: 1. Murder is illegal everywhere in America – that means it is already against the law; 2. All three youths (ages 15, 16 and 17) cannot legally own a gun – it is already against the law. If these youths didn’t care about those laws, why would they care about another law? Answer, they wouldn’t. Perhaps if the victim knew how to use a gun and had one with him that day, he would have been able to defend himself. Research shows that in America guns are used to prevent far more crimes than they are used to commit.

Incidentally, most of the gun related crimes, including murders, happen in the large cities in "bad" neighborhoods. Only in the liberal mind could this mean we should punish every law abiding adult all over the country by making guns illegal.

Guns are as guilty of a shooting death as ropes are guilty of a lynching. Automobiles are guiltier of running over people – occasionally one will actually run over a person without it being the fault of the driver. Guns and ropes never killed anyone without a person being responsible.

As usual, you have to go to foreign news sources to find out some actual facts. According to the Australian news, these three youths were either members of, or wanted to be members of, a Crips gang. The Crips is a gang of African-American youths that requires, among other things, that you murder someone to be able to join. These three are also very into the rap culture. Rap is a culture that encourages lawlessness and gangster-like behavior. Their heroes are the rap "singers" that go on about murder and rape in their lyrics.

I am surprised about Jesse Jackson’s response to this crime. He and Al Sharpton have made careers out of and benefited for decades from accusations of racism in our country. Normally they only pay attention to potential white against black racism, so I had expected to not hear a peep out of either of them on this matter. Jesse surprised me. Wednesday he put on Twitter that "This senseless violence is frowned upon and the justice system must prevail."

REALLY? Cold blooded murder is "frowned upon"? What? No dramatic press conferences? No demonstrations? No arranging marches and encouraging civil disobedience? This murder is only "frowned upon"? What justice system must prevail? The same justice system you derided just last month?

Come, come now Rev. Jackson, admit it. The reason you only "frown upon" this murder is that it was three black youths that killed a white man. I never heard you say one word about the white 17 year old murdered by a black man the same month as Trayvon was murdered. I didn’t hear you decry the over 11,000 black men murdered by other black men during the entire time period you were crying racism about a 17 year old Trayvon murdered by a Hispanic in self-defense. The hypocrisy is amazing!

The jobless rate dropped to 7.5%. The economy must be getting better, right? Wrong. The economy is still a mess. The unemployment rate has been crawling down because more able-bodied working-age adults are dropping out of the workforce. That means more able-bodied working-age adults are living off "public assistance".

Recent research shows that we have reached two new highs in bad statistics. First; in August a Pew Research study showed that 36% of young adults aged 18-31 are still living at home in their parents’ house. Last year that was a record 21.6 million and this year it looks like we will top that number. Second; we now have 35 states where there are more people on "public assistance" than there are working people paying taxes. In many of those states, if you game the system well you can have a better income than a person working for minimum wage – and your "public assistance" is not taxable! No wonder so many are dropping out of the workforce instead of looking to work!

The Obama family went on vacation (again) and forgot to bring Barack’s basketballs and the family dog. So Barack had the Marines fly both on an Osprey helicopter from Washington DC to Martha’s Vineyard. It is about a 3 hour trip and then they still have to return to DC where they are stationed. This cost the taxpayers about $180,000/hour. Next time he should buy a couple of basketballs there and let the marines feed and walk the dog at home!

An interesting comparison: The British spend about $58 million dollars on the entire British Royal Family (about 24 people). The Royal Family brings money into Britain with tourism – some years they actually bring in more money than they cost. Meanwhile America spends $1.4 billion on the four members of the Obama family. (Those frequent multi-million dollar vacations add up don’t they?)

The Crusades were fought in response to Islamic aggression and conquest of land in Europe. The Barbary pirates were Muslims. Islam, the Religion of Peace, is responsible for over 21,210 terror attacks since 9/11/01. Anybody else seeing a pattern here? I’m so glad it isn't a religion of aggression or war.
