Pot luck Saturday There will be a community pot luck supper at the church hall at 6 p.m. June 6. All are welcome. Please bring a dish to share.
Golfers wanted Sunday The Lebanon High School Class of 2010 will hold a scramble golf tournament at Carter Country Club June 7. Cost is $30/person for nine holes, barbecue and prizes; $8 to come for the barbecue only. Registration is at 3:30 p.m.; foursomes (and fivesomes) tee off at 4. “Walk ins” welcome.
Senior luncheon Tuesday A senior luncheon will be held at noon Tuesday, June 9 in the Grantham United Methodist Church Hall. A blood pressure screening will be included. All are welcome. Donations are accepted but not required.
It’s magic! On Wednesday “Joel Ash Creates Magic” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. June 10 at The Center at Eastman. Ash is an artistic engineer and magician who lives in Grantham. The program is free and open to the public.
Toddler/Preschool soccer Grantham Toddler/Preschool Summer Soccer will be held at 5 p.m. Thursdays from June 25 to Aug. 13 at the Eastman Fields across from South Cove. This is open to all Grantham children ages 2 to 5 who are not yet in kindergarten. Cost is $5/child. Register by mail by June 12. Read now for June 16 discussion The Dunbar Free Library has many copies of Archer Mayor’s Bellows Falls, which is the first of the books for the summer book discussion series “Yankee Crime” sponsored by the DFL Trustees and New Hampshire Humanities Council. Scholar Sandra LeBeau will lead the first discussion beginning at 7 p.m. June 16.
Summertime… and the reading is easy It’s time to celebrate summer at the Dunbar Free Library! All ages are welcome to join us to kick-off Summer Reading with Simon Brooks, a storyteller of energy and wit, at 11 a.m. July 1. Telling folktales, myths and legends from all over the world, Simon brings characters like Ananzi the Spider, the trickster Raven, Merlin and Dionysus vividly to life. |
Sprinkler Mondays will help you cool off each Monday at 3 p.m. beginning July 2. Stop by the backyard to cool off in the sprinkler, then dry off and stop inside for a snack.
DFL also invites you to join us for weekly story times, as we celebrate the 2009 theme “Summertime…and the Reading is Easy.” Come each week for fantastic stories, weekly prizes and fun activities. Children ages 4 and younger (with an adult) come at 10 a.m. Wednesdays from July 8 to Aug. 5. Children ages 5 to 9 come at 10 a.m. Thursdays from July 9 to Aug. 6. New for children ages 9 and older are Wednesday Night Crafts. Children must be registered in advance to make sure there are enough materials. The schedule is: 6:30 p.m. June 17 – tie-dye t-shirts; 7 p.m. July 15 – learn to face paint with Mrs. Cedar (every child receives a starter kit to take home and larger kits will be available for sale); and 7 p.m. Aug. 5 – flip-flop decorating (children must supply a pair of flip-flops for this event). Classic car show June 28 The 11th Annual Antique and Classic Car Show will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 28 at Mt. Sunapee Resort in Newbury. You can enter your auto for $10 or just come as a visitor for $5. Food, fun and free chair lift rides to the top of Mt. Sunapee for all paying entrants.
