Summertime… and the reading is easy
It’s time to celebrate summer at the Dunbar Free Library!
All ages are welcome to join us to kick-off Summer Reading with Simon Brooks, a storyteller of energy and wit, at 11 a.m. July 1. Telling folktales, myths and legends from all over the world, Simon brings characters like Ananzi the Spider, the trickster Raven, Merlin and Dionysus vividly to life.
Sprinkler Mondays will help you cool off each Monday at 3 p.m. beginning July 2. Stop by the backyard to cool off in the sprinkler, then dry off and stop inside for a snack.
DFL also invites you to join us for weekly story times, as we celebrate the 2009 theme “Summertime…and the Reading is Easy.” Come each week for fantastic stories, weekly prizes and fun activities. Children ages 4 and younger (with an adult) come at 10 a.m. Wednesdays from July 8 to Aug. 5. Children ages 5 to 9 come at 10 a.m. Thursdays from July 9 to Aug. 6.
New for children ages 9 and older are Wednesday Night Crafts. Children must be registered in advance to make sure there are enough materials. The schedule is: 6:30 p.m. June 17 – tie-dye t-shirts; 7 p.m. July 15 – learn to face paint with Mrs. Cedar (every child receives a starter kit to take home and larger kits will be available for sale); and 7 p.m. Aug. 5 – flip-flop decorating (children must supply a pair of flip-flops for this event).
For more information on any of these programs, please contact the library, 863-2172.
The Dunbar Free Library is planning for its future and needs your help. Please take a few moments to take a survey and let them know what you LOVE about our library, or what else the Grantham community needs. You can access the survey directly through DFL survey. This link is also accessible via the library's website, www.dunbarlibrary.org and hard copies are available at the library.
