The Croydon School Board met on Wednesday, Oct. 20 in the town hall. Members of the public expressed their concern about workbooks for the students at the Croydon Village School. The students started this school year without their workbooks, which are ordered through SAU 43.

Although no date was available for the delivery date of materials, Superintendent Michael Marcinkus reported the purchase order date was September 15. Parents at the meeting stated their children brought homework from the workbooks and were certain they were delivered.

Business manager Jim Venzina presented costs regarding a new fence for the school. Wood would cost approximately $600, and $1,200 for PVC fencing. It was suggested that the school put the job out for bids to local contractors.

Also up for pricing are new blinds for the Croydon Village School. The current shades are in disrepair. Business manger Jim Venzina received two quotes for blinds... $936 and $1,287. It was suggested that the blinds be put out to bid with the fence.

Croydon Village School is looking for a music teacher for two hours a week. Anyone interested in this position should contact Superintendent Marcinkus 603-863-3540.

Croydon resident, Jody Underwood was seated as an interim school board member, filling the vacant seat left by Mischel Wittakus who moved to Colorado. Wittakus was elected in March 2010. Underwood also will take Wittakus's place on the Area Agreement Committee.

There is a meeting of the Area Agreement Committee on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 7 PM in the Croydon Town Hall.

Shed Dedication

The Croydon Historical Society is having a plaque made to go over their new shed, "The Albert Smith Shed." in memory of Bert Smith who passed away last September. Bert was treasurer for the Croydon Historical Society and one of its most active members.

It is hard to believe that Bert has been gone for a little bit over a year. I have yet to take number out of my cell phone, or remove his email address from address books.

Cathy Peschke found a lost dog in her yard and called Chief Richard Lee. The dog was returned to its Massachusetts owner who lost the dog while hunting on Cash Street.
